“Outstanding relations were developed by Lacy Construction in dealing with the local community, Gunnison County, Gunnison National Forest Service, and FHWA during the construction of this route were instrumental in completing this project on time and under budget. This was a tribute to the outstanding working relation between Lacy Construction, project assigned FHWA personnel and county representatives and attention to local, environmental and interagency concerns.

The continued effort to keep project costs down while maintaining a safe construction effort and a final product of the highest possible quality was a key goal between FHWA, Gunnison County and Lacy Construction. Maintaining and keeping project costs under control for this project were controlled by personnel with the experience to understand costs to work relations, delaying/elimination unnecessary items of work, monitoring and keeping quants under control particularly those items with high unit costs; i.e. aggregate base, asphalt products etc.

The Taylor River Project came in approximately $600,000 under budget as a direct result of onsite personnel working relationships, monitoring work, costs, and tracking production quantities. The quality work that Lacy Construction performed on this project is apparent as you drive Taylor Canyon Road east out of Almont. ”

“The Town of Mt. Crested Butte has been contracting with Lacy Construction for many years, and I have been working with Lacy Construction for town projects since I became Town Mayor in the year 2004.

Lacy Construction workmanship has always been excellent and we have not experienced any long term failures. For example, they have removed and replaced storm water pipes under Gothis Road for a few hundred feet, they constructed Phase I of the Gothis Trail Recreation Path at the Town Hall which consisted of major MSE walls and extensive concrete work, removed and replaced a failed metal culvert with an 84 inch concrete culvert under Crystal Road without closing the road, installed underground drainage, and replaced failed metal culvert at the intersection of Winterset and Gothic Road.

For all these projects Lacy Construction has worked closely with the Town’s Engineer (SGM) as well as Town Staff with open, clear, concise communication helping to make project adjustments as necessary and completing the projects in a timely manner and on schedule. Any Change Orders necessary have been well defined and thoroughly communicated between the Town’s Engineer, Town Staff, and Lacy Construction staff. Dad to day communication and working relationships has been excellent.

We recommend contracting with Lacy Construction with an open bid process and as you award the bid, taking into account the benefits of utilizing an experienced professional Gunnison County contractor whose employees are local and the project funds stimulate the financial health of our local economy. ”

“Over the last decade Lacy Construction has been awarded a number of contracts by Gunnison County. The projects have been diverse in scope, but have been completed in a timely manner with quality workmanship and have been completed within budget. A number of the projects have been significantly under the engineer’s estimate.

Lacy Construction completed Phase I of the North Gunnison Sewer Line Extension, and the Antelope Hills Water Line Extensions which included several miles of line installation and a pump station. Both projects were funded by USDA Rural Development which does not allow change orders as a matter of policy. Once large change order was authorized, but it was anticipated because we did not have any idea how much rock to expect in the project.

Lacy Construction was awarded the bid for the construction of the Print 5 project by the Federal Highway Administration which completed the Taylor River Road project. The project included significant earthwork, rock removal, drainage work, sub grade preparation, placement of base course and paving. It was a well - organized, well - managed project. The work was done in a timely manner and the reclamation work was done as the project progressed. Gunnison County received many positive comments about the project and the minimal impact in the canyon. ”
